Signs of a hidden leak
- Your EPCOR water bill jumped and your use hasn't changed.
- The water meter's leak indicator spins with every tap off.
- Stains, bubbling paint or soft drywall on ceilings or walls.
- Musty smells, or mould behind baseboards or under sinks.
- Warm spots on the floor (a possible hot water line leak).
- The sound of running water when nothing is on.
Quick test: turn off every tap and appliance, then look at your water meter. If the dial moves over 30 minutes, you have a leak somewhere, often a running toilet, which is the cheapest leak to fix.
How we find leaks
Instead of cutting exploratory holes, we use:
- Thermal imaging to see the temperature pattern of wet materials and hot water lines.
- Moisture meters to map how far the water has spread.
- Acoustic equipment to hear pressurized water escaping inside walls and floors.
- Pressure and isolation testing to narrow down which line is leaking.
Then we open only the spot we need, fix the leak properly, and test it. If drywall repair or drying is needed, we tell you what's involved and can recommend a restoration company.
Condos and townhomes
In multi-unit buildings, a ceiling leak may come from the unit above. We can trace the source, document it for your condo board or property manager, and work with the other owner's plumber or insurer.
